Building the water and hydraulic installations

The most important thing in life is water. So we need it in our house to drink, clean things, to refresh the air, to take a bath, to cook, to flush the toilet and so on. The company UNITRANS Capotaria built three big boxes to prepare the hydraulic installations. One is for clean water. It can store two hundred liters of clean water. The second one is for human waste. Its volume is one hundred liters. The third is for waste water, from the bath and the kitchen, with the capacity to store two hundred liters it. The boxes were installed below the van. Each one is divided into three parts. It helps to maintain the stability of the car. Daily Message:  I will put my laws into their minds and write them on their hearts. Then I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Hebrews 8, 10

The dream is coming true...

First of all,  they made the electrical installation in the van: power outlets, electric switches. The eletric power is fed by a battery which is charged during the trip. In fact,  the van has two batteries. One is to charge the car and the other one is to charge the house. When we stop in the camping we plug into the camping wall and connect the battery. The eletric power is almost ready!!! Daily Message:  Whoever drinks this water will be thirsty again; 14 but no one who drinks the water that I shall give will ever be thirsty again: the water that I shall give will become a spring of water within, welling up for eternal life. John 4, 13-14

Let's start right now.

As we will travel on December 27th we need to build the house immediately. We had just fifty days to build the motor home. First we looked for a place to make the parts of the house. The company chosen was UNITRANS Capotaria. It is located in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Their site is  www.unitransbh.com.br . This place will make our dream come true.

The van floor plan

Image
My husband and I saw many projects about the interior of a motor home. My husband is very tall, one meter, eighty-five centimeters, so we had to plan the bed according to his height. Look at the van floor plan we decided! The double bed is at the bottom of the van. The bathroom is on the right side and the kitchen is beside the bathroom. Across from the bathroom, there will be a single bed that during the day will be used as a sofa.

Building the motor home

The interior of the van is empty. We are going to build a house inside of it. What are the parts of the motorhome? In the van there will be a bedroom with a double bed, a bathroom, a kitchen and a living room. Sometimes the living room can be used as a dining room. There will be a single bed that can be turned into a sofa.

Buying the van

My family bought the van. We went to many stores to know all kinds of vans. We decided to buy  Iveco Daily 35S14. Its color is white. We chose its color because we like it and its a good color to be retouched the affected sections. Its total height is two meters and seventy-four centimeters. Its  length is five meters and ninety nine centimeters. From now on we are going to have the motorhome built.

Taking a "Test Drive" trip

Image
Can you imagine? We had never been camping nor sleeping in a roof top tent. As we had never slept in a roof top tent José invited us to take a "test drive' trip. We would go to a camping place during a weekend to take the experience of camping. We chose going to Tiradentes, a historical city in the interior of Minas Gerais, about 200 kilometers far from Belo Horizonte.  The trip was excellent. We went on Friday, September 30th. On Saturday it rained all day. Imagine you are camping on a rainy day: lots of mud, dirty shoes, slippery land. We prepared our breakfast (Mr. Elio's motorhome has a kitchen) and went to a nearby city by train. Travelling in an ancient train was wonderful. Looking the rain through the window, the country size, the animals feeding ... It was a magic trip. In São João Del Rey we visited the historical places, such as churches, ancient buildings and the cemitery wh

Planning the first trip

My husband and I decided to take the first trip. We are going with other two couples: our daughter and her husband and his parents, Mr. Élio and Mrs. Mary (nicknames). We would travel in a car with a roof top tent on. Sleeping in a car roof top tent??? Fear, wonder, surprise were the feelings.

Greetings

Hi folks, my name is Soraia. I'm an English teacher. I taught English from 1979 to 2015. Now I'm retired and I'm becaming a motorhome traveler. I'm creating this blog to tell you about the trip I'll take. I'll post all the places I'll go, the things I'll do, the food I'll eat, the place habits, the climate, relief, greenery. This blog is for public teachers and students.  When I was a teacher it was very difficult to find texts to give to my students. That's why I am creating this blog: teachers can have different texts to work with students. On the other hand, students can improve their English learning. So let's begin our tour. I invite you to travel with me.
