Camburiu, Santa Catarina

January 17th We arrived in Camburiu, Santa Catarina, from Punta del Este. It was a tired trip. All body hurt a lot. It was a long trip. We passed through customs to Brazil. We have just showed the documents and entered Brazil.  In Camburiu the camping is across from the sea. At the time we arrived in the camping we went to see the sea. The sea is very dangerous. The waves are violent. We stayed there for two days. We walked on the sand. There was a lake which was formed among some stones. So we swam there. We were afraid to swim in the sea. We ate shrimp in the restaurant camping. Santa Catarina is the state which produces a lot of big shrimps.  In the camping there were lots of motor homes. Some were inside of vans, some in buses or trucks.  People in Santa Catarina State are used to have motor homes. We talked to many owners of them and took pictures to have ideas to finish ours.  On January 16th we came to Itajubá. It was a thirteen-hour trip. It was tiring, but

Punta del Este

January 16th, 2018 – Sunday  Peter and Alicia left the camping place earlier. Now they will travel alone. Peter has to work on Tuesday so they have to arrive in BH earlier. Yesterday we went into Brazil. How good returning home is! Going traveling is good but returning home is better. We are enjoying our trip very much. It’s the first time we travel camping in a motor home. We liked a lot. Although it is small, we have everything we need inside of it. If we are hungry we open the fridge and there is juice, yogurt, a sandwich, fruit. If we want to go to the bathroom we stop the car anywhere and use the toilet.  Besides in camping place we know different people, talk to them. It is very interesting.  In Punta del Este There was a big motorhome parked near our place. We were curious to know about it so we went there. The owners are very nice. They showed us inside. It is marvelous, very big and everything very organized. There is a very big living room with two sofas whic

Arriving in Uruguay

January 13th, 2018 The day before yesterday, the eleventh, the trip was very tiring. We traveled eight hundred kilometers. We left  Sauce Viego at nine o’clock and arrived in Punta del Este at eleven p.m. Everybody was exhausted. We passed through customs from Argentina to Uruguay. There they inspected our van. In the fridge there were tomatoes, eggs, apples, onion, bananas and carrots. They told us it is prohibited to go into the country with animal and vegetal products. He picked up the eggs, the carrot and the onion. There was no mountain in this region of Argentina and Uruguay we passed. It is plain. It predominates the soy, corn and sunflower plantations. There were lots of animal feeding stuff rolled in haystack.  Fotos It predominates cattle raising. The cattle breed is Angus. Lomo, in Argentica, correspond to “file mignon”. In Brail. It is very smooth.  Fotos.

Flat tyre

January 9th, 2018 Yesterday was the hardest day of the trip. In the morning Peter’s camionete had a flat tyre. Mr. Hélio had a product that put into the tyre and it closed the hole until find a place to repair it. After put the product and we drove about a hundred kilometers to find a place to repair the tyre. While it was been repaired my husband saw that our van had a flat tyre, too.  Foto Thanks God for protecting our trip!  While the tyres were being repaired the women cooked lunch. Peter woke up six o’clock a.m. to grill some meat. So for lunch we had grilled meat, rice with peas and chips. After driving twenty minutes  we stopped to have lunch near the hiolic energy plant.  Foto As we took a long time to go up from San Pedro del Atacama to Purmamarca we had to sleep in Susques. Mrs. Mary, Dodora, Peter and Lícia wanted to sleep in a hostel but there was no bedroom free. We parked the cars in the parking lot of the hostel, asked the owner the permission to

Beginning our trip to come back home

January 8th, 2018 We are beginning our trip to come back home. We are passing through San Pedro del Atacama. We are across from Licancabur Volcano. It is majestic. Its basis is at three thousand and six hundred meters of the sea level. Now I don’t have internet connection, so I don’t know its height. I will research it later.  Passing through San Pedro del Atacama again was very good. The vegetation appears. It is the Vicunha food. After San Pedro del Atacama we began going up. Our van, Pietá, is  being driven at 30 kms per hour.  Mr. Hélio’s van had to stop, the vehicle was heating. We all stopped to wait for it.  All around is golden. The mountain is covered by a golden vegetable. The vegetable which Vicunha eats.  Our automobile is at 17 hrs per hour. It began heating too. It is tense! We are at 4 thousand meters high. The van is forceless. We are supposed to sleep in Purmamarca today but my husband thinks we won’t arrive there. We are two hundred and thir

Friends from Camping

January 7th, 2018 The camping place we stayed in Iquique has the best infrastructure of all we had stayed. All is organized, clean. There is a big swimming pool, in front of Camping Las Lomas de Tres Islas. The coordenators are  -20.30908, -70.13613. I recomment this camping.  There we met some people from Uberlândia, Minas Gerais, Brazil. One of them works building motor home. He gave us a lot of ideas. He told us to use light material in the van. If it is used heavy material the automobile spends more combustible than the usual. In our van we have to use just combustible Diesel Oil S10. The Iveco Van has to use just this kind of combustible. This oil pollutes less the air compared with the others. Since 2012 all the assembled vehicles in Brazil are obliged to use Diesel Oil in Brazil.

Iquique

January 6th, 2018 Yesterday we went to Laguna Cejar y Tebenquiche. This is the ideal place to rest and enjoy the nature. We left San Pedro del Atacama on January, 6th to Iquique, on the Pacific Coast. The Atacama Desert is in fact marvelous. The mountains, the valleys, the salares, everything is so different and beautiful. I don’t have any words to tell you my feelings. You have to go  there to feel the place. It is magic. The landscape is marvelous. In each road curve you see a different scenery. You don’t get tired to see the landscape. There is new scenery in each moment. On the way we saw many industry plants. We got surprised when we saw Iquique. We got there in the evening time. It is a city on the seaside. A very clean city. We could see cars parked on the sidewalk. It is very strange for Brazilian People. We went straight ahead for Duty Free Stores. We bought three bags, two wallets, a beautiful watch, three French perfums and a male sweat

Geysers Tatio

Image
January 5th, 2018 We got up at four o’clock to see the Geysers Tatio, 4200m. It is located in a geothermal area. Hot water comes from the bottom of the land. It measures from about 60 to 99 degrees. It goes to about seven meters high. The water that comes from the buttom of the volcano has a lot of chemical substances.  That’s why  there is some husk at the exit of the hole. The geysers begin to throw water from the bottom of the land at midnight and it finishes at about eleven in the morning. That´s why we have to go so early. After seeing the geysers’ presentation we swam in a hot water lagoon. The water comes from the bottom of the volcano, too. It was very good. The water was fine but outside it was very cold. After that we pass through Machuca. It is a small village where they grow up Lhama and they sell barbecue of Lhama meat . Observation: there are four kinds of camelideus in South America: Vicunha and Guanaco aren’t domesticated. Lhama e Alp

Sunset at Coyote's Stone

Image
January 4th, 2018 Yesterday after visiting Valle Dela Luna we went to see the sunset at Coyote's Stone. It was perfect. There were a lot of people appreciating it.   Three minutes after the sun set we changed back and volcano Licancabur was pink and purple. We are astonished how amazing San Pedro del Atacama is. It is a small town. The fixed population is about 4 thousand inhabitants but during vacation period there are a lot of tourists in the city. Most of the houses are built of “adobe” (mixed of grass, sand, land, small stones). The streets are narrow. Some of them are paved and some are not. Caracoles is the street where  people can find souvenirs  from San Pedro. You can find grocery’s and small supermarkets there too. The water in San Pedro is not good for drinking. It is full of metals so we needed to buy it. We like the camping place we stayed. There were water to supply the van water tank and electric socket to supply electricity.

"Termas Puritama" and "Valle de La Luna"

Image
January 3th, 2018 We arrived in San Pedro del Atacama yesterday. We went to a tourist agency (Colque Tours) to buy the tourist packets. The tourist agent is Brazilian, from São José dos Campos. We bought the packets for three days. Today we went to Puritama Hot Springs. Jonas, the driver, was the tourist guide, explained us about the vegetation: some small grass, typical of desert place, which is the food for Vicunha, a small camel from South America. It is not domesticated. It is in extintion, so the hunt is prohibited. We saw a Vicunha Family, which the male stays in the front observing the place. The female and the small ones eat all the time. At the springs The water is warm, about 30 degrees. There are seven lagoons. The first one the tourists can’t swim because it is the hottest one. We stayed at the second one all the time. The water was about 30 degrees. We stayed there for 2 hours. It was very relaxing. We are in Atacana Desert. It is inte
